THE ZIMBABWE Bird and Baobab Coin Pendant

$120.00

THE ZIMBABWE Bird and Baobab Coin Pendant is handcrafted based on an authentic Zimbabwean coin using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The coin features the national emblem of Zimbabwe, a protective bird sacred animals of the Shona people. Carvings of the Zimbabwe bird were originally found in the ruined city of Great Zimbabwe, which was built by the ancestors of the Shona people in and around the 11th. The Kingdom continued for 300 years. The reverse of the coin features a Baobab Tree. The baobab tree is a tree species that is more ancient than humanity itself. It roots go back to before the splitting of the continents some 200 million years ago, and some have lived for over 2000 years. For this reason, they are often associated with wisdom and continuity. Many myths surround why the tree also looks like it has grown upside down.
