THE SUDAN Nubian Pyramid Coin Pendant
$120.00
THE SUDAN Nubian Pyramid Coin Pendant is handcrafted based on an authentic Sudanese coin using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The coin features the Meroe Pyramid, one of several pyramids built by the rulers of ancient Kushite Kingdoms in the Nile Valley. Present day Sudan was home to three Kushite kingdoms during antiquity; the first having a capital in Kerma (2500-1500 BC), the second in Napata (1000-300 BC), and the third in Meroe (300BC - 300 AD). This area of the Nile Valley was known as Nubia in ancient times, and the ancient pyramids were modelled after the private family pyramids of Egypt to the North which were common during the New Kingdom. There are twice as many Nubian Pyramids as Egyptian pyramids standing to this day. The Nubian Pyramids are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
