THE AKSUM Coin III dates back to the 5th century and is one of a group of three of the most rare and ancient coins in our collection. It is the largest of our ancient rare coins and features the roughly preserved bust of the crowned King Evan holding whisk, flanked by wheat stalks, within a dotted circle. Ancient text surrounds the cross. The reverse of the coin features the king wearing a draped head cloth again holding whisk, flanked by wheat stalks, within a dotted circle, and surrounded by ancient lettering. The AKSUM Coin III dates back to the 440-470 AD. Handmade using the ancient lost wax casting method.
