THE HAITI Mackandal Coin Pendant
$102.00
THE HAITI Mackandal Coin Pendant is handcrafted based on an authentic rare Haitian coin with precious metals using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The design features the Haitian Coat of Arms on one side, and legendary freedom fighter Mackandal on the reverse. The coat of arms symbolizes freedom and the country's battle for independence. In 1804 Haiti became the first country in Latin America and The Caribbean to gain indepence from colonial rule. The motto: L'Union fait la force, which translates to "Unity Makes Strength" can be found on the ribbon. Two women with their hands outstretched to the sky can be found on the other side of the coin in celebration of the Year of the Women in 1975.
