THE ERITREA Leopard Coin Necklace features a Leopard perched on a branch on one side and the words Liberty, Equality and Justice on the other. The coin is from the nation's year of independence in 1991. It showcases the moment Eritrean liberation fighters entered the capital of Asmara and mounted the flag in declaration of the independence of Eritrea from imperial Ethiopian rule. Eritrea was once part of the ancient Kingdom of Aksum which covered much of modern-day Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. Eritrea is referred to as 'The Horn of Africa', which describes Eritrea's geographical location on the Horn of Africa, protruding into the Red Sea.The necklace is handcrafted based on an authentic coin with precious metals using the traditional lost-wax casting technique.
