THE JAMAICA Garveyite Pendant in Silver
$120.00
THE JAMAICA Garveyite Pendant features the island's coat of arms on one side and the bust of Marcus Garvey on the other. The coat of arms contains an indigenous man and woman, one holding a basket of fruit, the other a bow. The nation's motto "Out of Many One People" is written on a scroll below. The opposite side of the coin reads "The Rt Excellence Marcus Garvey ~ National Hero" bordering his bust. Marcus Mosiah Garvey was an entrepreneur, political leader, journalist, and orator that advocated for the economic and political independence of Black people around the globe. His philosophy of Garveyism would go on to inspire the Nation of Islam, the Rastafari Movement and the Black Powerful Movement of the 1960s. The pendant is handcrafted based on an authentic coin using the lost wax technique.
