THE LESOTHO Coin Necklace is handcrafted based on an authentic Lesotho coin with fine metals using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The design features the nations coat of arms on the front and the country's flora on the reverse. Lesotho's coat of arms contain a crocodile on a Bathoso shield. The Bathoso are the indigenous ethnic group in Lesotho. Behind the shield are two crossed weapons and supporting the shield are two Bathoso horses. In the foreground there is a ribbon with the national motto: Khotso, Pula, Nala meaning "Peace, Rain, Prosperity". Lesotho is a landlocked country in an enclave surrounded by South Africa. It is known for it's rich water resources which it exports to South Africa. It is often referred to as the "Kingdom in the Sky" due to its high elevation. It is one of few remaining Kingdoms in Africa and enjoys relative political stability as a constitutional monarchy.
