THE COWRIE Sapphire and Pearl Drop Earrings are a subtle statement earring featuring a genuine Mabe pearl and cowrie wrapped in natural sapphires. The cowrie was once used as a form of currency in Africa and many coastal cities around the globe. Their significance extends beyond economics as well as cowrie shells also represent spiritual protection and prosperity. Mabe pearls are one of the oldest cultured pearls in the world. Asian innovators first cultivated these pearls more than 700 years ago.
