THE CAPE Verde Sea Turtle Coin Necklace is handcrafted based on an authentic coin using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The design features Cape Verde's national emblem; made up of a circle containing a torch and triangle, symbols of freedom and national unity. The ten stars represent the islands of Cape Verde and at the top of the shield is a plumbob, a symbol of righteousness. Three chain links are at the bottom. The Loggerhead Sea Turtle can be found on the reverse side of the coin. Cape Verde is home to the third largest population of this species of sea turtle in the world, which comes to its beaches to nest.
