THE BAULE Sun Stud Earring III
THE BAULE Sun Stud Earrings III are our largest version of the classic Baule Sun bead design. Each piece features delicate detailing carefully crafted to mimic the filigree like texture of original Baule bead work. The Baule people are a group indigenous to Western Africa known for their rich brass and gold smithing culture. Each bead is named after a common or proverbial object, such as "bamboo door", "setting sun," or "sun and moon" and there is a saying attached to each name. Circular beads, like this design, have special significance in Baule culture and are sometimes given to a bride’s family as a symbol of the groom’s intent to marry. Made using the traditional lost wax method.
