We love beautiful clothing, but we wouldn't give that up for the world.
WHAT WE DO:
1. ECO-FRIENDLY DYES
Did you know that fashion is one of the most hazardous industries to our world's waters? Because of this our jersey blends use eco-friendly dyes that are 100 percent bio-degradable and require no water to print.
2. SUSTAINBLE TEXTILES
We do our best to source our fabrics from companies that implement sustainability measures to ensure that the process of creating them does not involve unnecessary harm to the environment.
3. LOW IMPACT
Omi Woods is never mass produced. We keep a small inventory and only make what is ordered so your product is that much more unique and our manufacturing practices have less of an impact on the earth.
4. RECYCLING AND REPURPOSING
Our scraps are recycled or reused by local textile artists and designers that make accessories and artwork with our prints.
5. FAIR WAGE
We pay our employees fair wages and have personal relationships with everyone that sews the clothes you wear.
1. WASH YOUR CLOTHES LESS
Did you know that most of our clothing's ecological footprint is created after it's purchased? Try washing your clothes less by spot washing gently worn clothes. Skip the dryer and hang dry clothes. Another tip: bag gently worn clothes and put them in the freezer for a day. The temperature will kill bacterial and odour and reduce your laundering bill.
2. USE MILD DETERGENTS
Bio-degradable and eco-friendly detergents are not only better for your health, they're also better for our environment.
3. GREEN CLEAN
Conventional dry cleaning uses some pretty nasty chemicals that are known carcinogens. Do yourself a favour and seek green cleaning professionals.
4. THINK TIMELESS QUALITY
Rely less on fast fashion by purchasing quality pieces you love that are built to last. Also, mix our pieces with vintage and thrift finds.
5. KNOW THYSELF
Know who made your clothes. Read articles and watch documentaries like "True Cost". We've been conditioned to accept the world as it is, and are seldom reminded that we have the power to help change it day by day with the choices we make.
